Working from Home is Here to Stay

March 15, 2022

Working from home is no longer an anomaly in today’s society—and when looking further into the future throughout the Greater Kansas City area, that fact doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Because of this idea, our team at Inspired Homes knew that our homes needed to reflect this new set of priorities we now have for them.

Embracing our new reality

Remote work had been on a slow uphill trend for a few years before 2020 catapulted the idea to the forefront of our everyday lives. At first, it took time to get into the rhythm of working out of our homes—but flash forward two years, and many working professionals want the option of remote work to remain available to them in the future.

According to the 2021 State of Remote Work Report from Owl Labs, 90% of the 2,050 remote workers surveyed said that they were as productive or more productive when working from home than when they were in the office. When asked about the future state of the workplace—71% said that they want to keep the fully remote or hybrid work style once the pandemic is over.

The option to work remotely is clearly top-of-mind for many working professionals today, with 46% of those surveyed saying that they would even be willing to take a 5% pay cut if it meant that they could work remotely part-time. Add that to the 82% of individuals saying that working from home is better for their mental health and 84% of employees saying that they would be happier working from home—and this new work reality is clearly here to stay.

Floor plans fit for working from home

We know how important it can be to have a separate space to truly focus on your work when you’re at home, and we have some incredible floor plan options to choose from to ensure that your needs are being met no matter what.

  1. The Inglenook: Our Inglenook floor plan is one of our most popular options—and the main floor office furthers the appeal. Whether you work best with a dual monitor setup or need a printer throughout the day—you’ll have plenty of space and get the most out of working from home with this floor plan.
  2. The Opus: As the largest floor plan we offer with 3,399 square feet of living space, the Opus has plenty of room for homeowners to create the ideal office area they need. Instead of your office space being across from the main entryway, this floor plan has the office opening up to the owner’s entry instead—giving you even more privacy throughout the day.
  3. The Calistoga: Our Calistoga floor plan is all about personalization. With a flex room available on the first floor, you could easily turn this space into your own home office. If you have other plans for that extra room, however, there is an option to add on a separate office space to the first floor as well.
  4. The Sonoma: With the ability of having two additional bedrooms available when you include the finished basement on our Sonoma floor plan—the upstairs bedroom off of the main entryway offers an ideal space to convert into your own home office.
  5. The Fairfield: In our Fairfield floor plan, the bedroom at the front of the house acts as an ideal home office for working professionals. Slightly set off from the main activity center of the home, the room placement offers individuals the perfect amount of space and privacy needed throughout the work day.
  6. The Monterey: Another ideal floor plan for remote work is our Monterey plan. With a spacious interior and plenty of natural light throughout the room—the front bedroom offers the perfect set-up for your home office.
  7. The Cardinale: The Cardinale floor plan is another great option for those who need more bedroom space as well as a work space. With up to five bedrooms possible throughout the home and a flex room on the main floor, this floor plan is ideal for working professionals.
  8. The Windsor: Our Windsor floor plan offers an incredible amount of versatility throughout the home. With the front bedroom acting as an office space, you’ll easily be able to distance your work life from your home life for the ideal balance.

The whole process of working with the Inspired Homes team from initial viewing of model through contract and construction to final walkthrough was truly an effortless experience. We were fully impressed by the high-quality fit and finish of their model homes and not disappointed at all to find this same standard of excellence applied to ours. Thank you, Inspired Homes!
